Needham Heights, MA (January, 2008) - Polestar Technologies, Inc.(Needham Heights, MA), specialist in the development and manufacture of highly reliable and rugged optical sensing technology, and PendoTECH (Princeton, NJ), providing products and services for the optimization of biopharmaceutical production processes, have entered into a non-exclusive OEM agreement to incorporate Polestar’s optical pH sensors and process monitor into PendoTECH’s line of Single Use Process Sensors.
Like PendoTECH’s Single Use Pressure Sensors, the pH sensors are gamma stable so they can be pre-sterilized either alone or with tubing and bioprocess container assemblies. These sensors add the important component of in-line process monitoring and control to the trend of using single use process technology bioprocess unit operations and they facilitate industry desire for process analytical technology (PAT). PendoTECH pH Process Monitor and Single Use pH Sensors can be used for inline measurement of pH by patented optical sensing technology for real-time process monitoring and control developed by Polestar Technologies. The patent-pending design of the in-line fitting allows for pH measurement with an unobstructed fluid path without liquid hold-up. These features minimize pressure drop as liquid flows through the fitting and ensures accurate readings. Calibration via access to the fluid path is not required and all material in contact with the fluid path meets USP Class VI requirements. Key bioprocess applications include critical downstream processing steps such as concentration and diafiltration steps in tangential flow filtration (TFF)/cross flow filtration processes, chromatography processes, and mixing/pH adjustment processes.
